London is rich in imposing buildings, the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Shard, the Gherkin, the list is endless, and they are all worthy of a visit. London attracts visitors from all over the globe and it does get exceedingly busy. The quietest time to visit are just after Christmas through to late March and the busiest time is July/August because of the school holidays.
Here is just a sample of places to go:
If you've a head for heights take a view of the city from the Shard or jump on board the London Eye and get a bird's eye view of the Thames. For the more energetic, climb the 445 steps of the red scaffolding tower near the Olympic Stadium and enjoy a spectacular view of the Shard, St Paul's and the Wembley arches and when you've seen enough slide all the way back down again.
A history trip to London must take in a visit to the Queens des-res, Buckingham Palace, and if the flag is flying she's definitely at home. Take a tour of the Houses of Parliament and absorb 1000 years of history whilst marvelling at the stunning architecture. Hop across the road and get a glimpse of the inside of Westminster Abbey where 16 royal weddings and every coronation has taken place.
Round off your afternoon with tea at the Ritz, and indulge in finely cut sandwiches, dainty cakes and the flashing of silver teapots, but do book ahead as it's very popular.
In the evening, take a trip to China town for a mouth-watering, authentic Chinese meal.
