The whole coastline from Exmouth to Poole has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO since 2001. It's a quintessentially English county, packed with rugged coastline, rolling hills and twee picturesque villages. Known as The Jurassic Coast, records indicate that it spans 185 million years of the Earth's history. It attracts many nature lovers, walkers and cyclists all keen to find a fossil or too!
Of course there are plenty of other things to discover if you're not keen on doing that much fossil finding. Venture out by car and you'll find quaint market towns like Abbotsbury, where the famous Cerne Abbas Giant is carved into the chalk hillside above the village (considered the largest hill figure in Britain). Head for Lulworth and its dramatic coastline and check out the famous landmarks of Durdle Door and picturesque Lulworth cove. There are countless historic houses and gardens to visit, fishing, canoeing, kite surfing, wind surfing, wakeboarding, swimming and sailing to have a go at. You could even try your hand at Llama trekking!
