There are seven islands. We've just selected the most popular.
Tenerife is the largest of the Canaries and the most popular with tourists. It has the most resorts and is the liveliest island offering plenty of night time entertainment, fabulous beaches and great water sports.
Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands and the least developed. Expect a much quieter holiday soaking up the sun in the main resort of Morro Jable. Its home to a magnificent 4km beach and lots of little tapas bars and restaurants.
Gran Canaria is a big hiking destination. There's also a superb beach in Maspalomas in the south and the city of Las Palmas offers buzzing nightlife as well as excellent sandy beaches.
Lanzarote is the youngest island. It's much more sophisticated. Spend your time cycling, walking, surfing or sampling the local wines. The volcanic activity here has provided a unique viticulture that has established some excellent wineries, who all produce top notch wine which can be sampled at most of the bars and restaurants around the island.
